Personal Protection
People who are in danger of attack, or merely seeking a sense of security have found great success with pepper spray. Personal protection is an issue that can be handled with weapons, with martial arts skill, with aid of friends or family, with cooperation from police, etc. But the really valuable asset in protecting yourself is maintaining your guard. In some cases, maintaining guard is holding your head high and keeping your pepper spray handy. In other cases, maintaining your guard is a matter of communication. Don't communicate with people whom you do not trust. Do communicate with people who can be a part of your protection network. Even a long-distance friend or family can help with your protection. They might remind you that staying out late until 4 in the morning without a buddy to join you is a bad idea. They might remind you that you work in an unsafe neighborhood and you would be wise to purchase a self defense weapon such as pepper spray. They might call to tell you that you shouldn't reveal too much information to that person you just started dating because you don't know anything about them yet. These are the things that keep people safe. People in isolation are the people who are most vulnerable. They do not have personal protection because they live without a network of protection. Live your life freely, be smart, and build your network of protection. Pepper spray is a very good complement to these efforts. When you have no other option but physical retaliation, you will be happy that pepper spray is on your side.
